Can I do this with sword plant leaves?

I had a couple leaves fall off when moving and I just put them into the substrate ? Will they propagate like this or is it going to just rot and cause an ammonia spike ?

They won't cause an ammonia spike, but they will rot away. Best to remove them.

Amazon swords don't propagate that way. They either develop plantlets. Or you can divide the rhizome. But the piece you cut has to have its own portion of rhizome, roots and leaves.

Okay thanks , they just fell off when I was moving it , but I pulled them out of there
