Helllooo i was jsut wondering if i can cycle a tank with a few tiger barbs in it...10gl. pH about 7.6

thanks everyone!

Personally i wouldn't...Tiger's are sensitive to Nitrite. When you cycle a tank there will be high Nitrite levels which will stress Tigers making them more susceptable to disease. Why not do a fishless cycle...It can be done just as easily and it doesn't put any fish in harms way. Also Tiger barbs are a schooling fish which need to be kept in groups of at least 6... tiger barbs are not suitable for a 10 gallon tank as they like alot of swimming space. Hope i answered your question!

Definitely not, for reasons stated above.

I would suggest fishless cycling or livebearers. Danios would have been ok, but they need more room than the ten gallon. :/

Definetly dont!! Befor i found this site i had a 10 gallon tank and i bought 3 tiger barbs. BAD IDEA!!! All of them died within 3 days :rip: Lets just say this forum saved many little fishies lives. I would suggest using zebra danios and some live plants they worked well for me.
