I have a 55 gallon tank and want to add a couple red bellied pacu in it but am worried that they will eat my other fish. I have 2 Jack Dempseys that are 4 and 5 inches long, a 5 inch red finned shark, a 3-4 inch uside down catfish, an 8 inch plecosmus and an 8 inch eel. Do you think that the Pacu will eat them? I was going to put in maybe 3 2-3 inch pacu. Any ideas? Thanks

The tank is way to small for Pacu. These fish grow to be 2-3 feet. I believe they are herbivores, so no, they wouldn't eat fish. These aren't too aggressive either.

Tottaly agree, your tank is far to small for a tank buster like pacu's.

I would just keep it at what you got at the moment, you are fully stocked, if not, a little over stocked. You will find that most of those fish should grow quite large.

You should be focusing on the amount of fish you have in there already... Eventually, all of those fish together will create a very crowded tank.

Way too many fish in there already. If you have a common plec thats 12>inches adult. Red tailed shark another foot. Jack Dempseys are bout 6 inches. You need a bigger aquarium for such fish, plus those fish you have need territory, which you cannot provide in a 55.

The Red Tailed shark won't get a foot in length, more like 6 or 7 inches.
