can convicts hybridize.because i saw a greenish looking fish in the lfs and it said hybrid convict on it.

Yeah. They created Blood Parrots by breeding Convicts with i think Texas Cichlids? They will breed with:

Other Convicts
Texas Cichlids
Firemouths
Salvini's
and others that i cant think of ATM.

thanks krib but are any of those green?

Umm, texas can have some green on them i belive. Im not sure though. Some convicts just had random colorations. If it looked like any other con, but just had a different coloration, tis probably a weird convicts. Usually interbreeding results in a different body shape.

realy because my friend tried to make albinos by interbreeding all the time he only got one or 2 albinos though.haha.

Mhmm, if you breed the 2 albinos together, more of thier babies will be albino. Then you breed those babies with eachother ect.

Lol, no they didn't, nobody is 100% sure how BP's were made but it is most likely to be a Severum and Midas/Red Devil
Jellybean parrots however are created by cross breeding blood parrots and convicts

green convict crosses could be Texas but most likely to be crossed with a Jack Dempsey

which will give you a load of inbred fish?
albino fish are always going to be harder to breed as the coloured pigment is much more dominant in their genes

^ That was the way i was taught genetics. If you are trying to get pinks from a pink and a black, your gonna have to inbreed. I was mistaken about the convict and texas. There is so much info on the internet that i get confused, especially when your dealing with a fish that hybridizes with EVERYTHING.

I think a convict female if breed and then parted with generally breed with any cichlid of simular shape and more so if has colouring.

i do believe you can breed a fish back to its parents/siblings for a few generations without any problems, its when you breed generation after generation without introducing new bloodlines thats when the problems start. look at guppys(!)
