i aquired two fish today, the previous owner said when they bought them they were told they were common plecos. ha!

one does look like a common plec, but its grey and white, with black spots on the underside. ive only ever seen brown ones??

the second is a bizarre thing. it never moves, you'd swear it was dead. the only time ive seen it move is when it completely buries itself in the sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you had a look on www.planetcatfish.com

The first is quite clearly Pterygoplichthys tribe, 12 dorsal rays gives it away, it will be either P. pardalis or P. disjunctivus, both of which are 'common' plecs.

the second is Bunocephalus coracoideus, a banjo catfish, you are right its not a common, its not even a plec.

didnt think it was a plec as the mouth is at the front not underneath and doesnt have the sucker shape!
