The one that comes to mind is peckoltia sabaji L75 but the spots do look a little off.... do the spots continue into the tail and the dorsal fin?... it's a little hard to tell from that photo.

Sorry about the bad photo. There aren't any spots on the dorsol or tail fins, but there are on his pectoral fins

In that case i would rule out the L75.... every one ive seen and kept have the distinct spots running through both the tail and dorsal.... the other idea would have been one of the hypostomus species but which one can be hard to decipher tbh... there are so many that look very similar.

You could have a look HERE!!! and see if there is anything that closely matches but at this point with that pic your guess would probably as good as any.

Sorry i couldn't have been more helpful

How big is he by the way? and what was he sold as?

There are two other peckolitia species it possibly could be be i cant really be sure tbh.....L163 or L008 but i still would at this point say hypostomus

Thanks - having looked at pics on web, looks like L163! Now to find out a bit about him (if he is actually a he!)

Have a look HERE!!!..... size would probably be the deciding factor here.... 163 is a relatively small species.

From what i can tell 163 have an orangey glow to there fins, dorsal and tail... from your pic that actually could be the case.. so it may actually be that species.

Oh and it's definitley a male by the looks of it :good:
