I wondered if we have any camera experts out there after a little advise on Lenses if we do for macro photo`s

I have a DSLR which is a great camera but would like to get some realy nice close up shots of corals etc. and was wondering what sort of lens to look for?

Have a 18mm- 70mm standard Lens

70mm - 300mm with a macro at 180mm - 300mm which is nice but need to be about 1m away from the tank ;)

Hehe is anything to do with DSLR cheap I have seen a Tamron 90mm which looks like it will do the job but was nt too sure.

What brand of camera do you have?

Nikon and Canon do some very good macro lenses but are a bit pricey to be fair,

Other lenses like those listed below will still do an excellent job but will save you a few £££ in the process.

Sigma 105mm or 150mm
Tamron 90mm
Tokina 100mm

The Sigma 150mm is definitely worth a shout

Saved a few quid and brought A sony A200 will look for the sigma 150mm

Warehouse express is very good for camera equipment and very efficient on delivery.

I bought my Fuji S9500 from them 3.5 yrs ago, it was the only place selling them for less than £400 at the time.

one other option you might want to try is a reverse mounting rings/tubes. I haven't tried them myself yet but basically it lets you mount the lens in backwards and turns any lens into a macro lens. Some lens work better with this than others and if you use one make sure you keep the lens supported while its attached (obviously not meant to be mounted this way so can put strain on the screw threads).

The other thing is that you obviously cant use the autofocus with them. Few a few quid though they are probably worth a go.

Never had any joy with these myself, but as you say it depends on the lense they are used on
