I have recently upgraded to a vision 180, this tank has been placed on the same stand as my old tank which was a lot smaller, i have trasfered as much water as possible from the old tank over along with using part of the old filter media to help friendly bacteria begin, also adding a good dose of "nutrafin cycle".

Ive had to move my fish straight in due to space, and faulting equipment,
all fish seem fine but upon testing the water nitrites are showing at around 1.3, how can i reduce this level quickly and effectively?

please please please help

This happened because of a mini cycle. Sure you added all that stuff from the original tank to the new one. But thats not enough good bacteria to handle the bioload of your fish. The nitrites will disappear once the bacteria settles in among the new gravle and decorations. Untill then just do a 25-40% water change every day. You're fish will be fine unless they are very picky about their water.

As above water changes will keep it in check...

...also feed sparingly untill things have settled down...

live plants have been helping my tank a bit. Just an idea.

I have just had the same problem,,moved up from a 15 gallon tank into a 70 gallon tank. I used all exsisting water, substrate and transferred filter and fish,,treated water with de-chlor. I also kept feeding down, but nitrite went through the roof in 36 hours. I am now doing regular water changes and desperately trying to reduce toxins. I was using my Eheim 2213, but i know added a fluval 404 as well which i seeded from my koi pond filter. I also have a Eheim proffessional 2226 on standby,,,cant have enough filtration i think!!! I am gradually getting readings down, but wish it was a little quicker,,
