Calibrating Refractometer

hi i need to calibrate my new refractometer with distilled water
but been to local halfords and they dont stock it anymore.

anythign else i cud use instead?

Iron water from supermarkets? Make sure it states distilled on the label some has just been chemically treated.

If you had looked about 10 posts down you would have seen this near identical thread.

To save you clicking through, calibrating to 0 is a bad idea unless you paid in the high three to four figures for your refractometer.

ive got a hydrometer as well so if i check it against the hydrometer and get the same result wud i assume my refractometer is correct?

wat do u suggest i do?

I suggest you read the link I posted. In there I point out that Ski put the DIY known salinity recipe in the Realm of Knowledge. From there you go to the Realm of Knowledge, look at Ski's posts and click this link.

Make the solution and check your refractometer (and hydrometer) against that.

Once that is done, learn how to spell basic words like "what" and "you" as well as how to use the shift key at the start of sentences.

Well, if you can't be bothered to even try and write properly, do not be surprised when I (and many others on this forum) cease answering any of your posts and offering advice.

On this you are sadly mistaken. Many members have commented time and again (including in the thread about the forum going downhill) that they hate having to decipher messges because the poster is too lazy to write them in English.

this is really pathetic, people like u is causing tis forum to go down hill, by being like this with members.

How strange, many people think that the influx of people posting as you do is the cause of the downturn of the forum. As those people are those that have been here longer, I am more inclined to agree with them.
