Calcium

I here lots of people testing there calcium, can some tell what and why it is important? Why is there calcium in the tank?

Many of the people on here keep corals- and I believe that corals and other inverts need calcium to be happy and prosper.

All inverts use calcium to some extent to grow. They absorb the calcium as well as other elements out of the water. You can either replace it by dosing calcium or by water changes. A common example is the exoskeloton of crabs and shrimp and the shells of snails. Also corraline algea is a large user of calcium as well.
