I purchased 2 plastic canistor things, with suplha in one, and im guess arogonite in the other. The water passes through both, and outcomes droplets of calcium enriched water, this has been on-going for 3 months, and the calcium level will not rise above 260. by now im assuming the levels should have risen. I do water top up, when the water evaporates, so say once a week atleast with r/o water. Performed a test on the usualls.. and water could`nt be better. so im confused.

I only have a sponge, pulsing zena, polyps, not alot. so calcium should`nt be so low.

I have the water passing through the sulpha balls 1st and not the arogonite, but was told to do it that way, so the ph levels stay level once the water wassed through them both...
I`ll test the droplets 2nite, and the actual tank water, maybe then i`ll know if it works, the filter could draining the calcium.. i dunno!

any advice would be cool??

are you using a calcium reactor?
If so then are you using CO2 with the reactor?

what salt are you using???? if you are doing reg water changes and using a decent salt you are using up a LOT of calcium to get down to 260.

Im not CO2 as i don`t have a co2 reactor. The lfs advsd me that when the water reacts with the sulpha, that produces co2 and a high ph, when this then runs throught the nxt part of the media which to me looks like arogonite (i could be wrong) lowers the ph,and produces calcium. The folloeing link will direct you to what i bought:

Note on the pic. Its the canistor you see on the far right, exclude the rest of the picture. I have 2 of those one filled with sulpha, and the other i think arogonite. but im thinking maybe this a nitrate reactor. im not sure. ive been told porkys maybe..??!!

I only have zena and a sponge and 2 other bits of corel. for a 4ft tank. that isn`t alot. so im assuming the calcium levels should be high..

The salt i pruchased from the lfs came from denmark, the label has worn off. i got a massive bucket full for £30 and its lasted 6 months, and looks like i haven`t even began to use it. The corels look ok, the fish look happy, for the past 8 months nothing has died. so im assuming its all going ok.

still seems odd...check again with a seperate kit (or get LFS to do it) and check your salt mix as well perhaps.

whats the stock of corals like? heavy?

ive tried 2 seperate kits to test the calcium, and i get 20ppm difference. i have a sponge, zena, polys, and this pink branchy thing, that i cannot remember the name off.

its very frustrating..
