do a search on here for info on them and you'll find out they are not the best fish to have in a 10 gal (or any tank for that matter it seems), as they get bigger, and as they can be very aggressive and troublesome fish. maybe you should see if any lfs will take him off your hands
most likely. maybe you should see if you can get a cheapo small tank temporarily for him (like a 2gal,i know its way too small, but it would separate him until you can relocate him.......)
Wow fishnewbie, that's really crappy. Unfortunately, I have no good suggestions for you. I'm currently the proud owner of two CAE's. One I purchased a couple of years back without really knowing what I was getting myself into, the other is a HUGE one that came with an oscar I tried to rescue. One of mine is happily living under the bogwood in my 45 gallon community tank with 6 kuhlis, the huge one is in a 20 gallon by himself with a few leftover feeder goldies who out-lived the sick oscar. The one in my 45 was starting to act a little grumpy a couple of months ago, but as if through magic, he settled right down when I added the kuhlis to that tank. They all moved into his den under the wood and he let them!! I often see him out cruising the tank with the kuhlis, and occasionally with the cories, as well. I keep an eye on him, though. If he starts acting cranky again, he's moving into his own tank.
I think your idea of feeding him peas got him all beefed up becuase he wasnt eating. He probably got some crazy beast pea energy and went on a rampage after my best bloodfin that was the leader of the pack.
