Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I'm looking for someone to build me a cabinet that is 11 foot long, 3.5 foot high and 3 foot wide so I can put a 132"x36"x36" tank on top of it.

Any advice or recommendations as I don't know a great deal about this sort of thing. :)

thats one massize tank,

Could be done with wood i think, proly think 4 x 4 's or sumin, or steel one , then get wood cladding around it

Thanks but I'm ideally looking for some recommendations on someone who can specially build me a nice looking stand that can withstand the weight of my tank.

I've looked on google and on these forums but I can't find anyone who does it.

Is there anyone out there who can point me to someone?

You're looking at a total weight of around 3000 kilos, 3 tonnes!

Your tank will hold about 2500 litres or 660 gallons of water. Water weighs about 1 kilo a litre. I'm also taking into account the the weight of the tank and any decoration, rocks gravel sand etc.

To say your tank is big is a complete understatement, the cabinet would need to be very strong to hold such a weight. I don't think a few sheets of MDF from B&Q would do the job, you're looking at a strong timber or steel sub frame with cladding. It would look great recessed into a wall! At least the cabinet will give you somewhere to put the extensive filtration system you will need.

What you planning on keeping in it?

With the tank being that tall I'd just lay it on the floor as long as the floor is cement or concreet  . I do wonder what kind of monkey arms you got since you'll need a snorkle to aquascape the bottom. That is if you can actually get that tank through your doors. But if you're going to use wood it'll need a forest to brace that much weight.

Timber is very very very strong in compresion, 3 tonnes is nothing. Made out of 4x4 would be fine. (Just think how much that roof on your house weighs)

Its braceing to stop tank stand colapsing sideways is the important part, Wood not strong in shear.

There are people on here that have built em but are any near you, GF's dad is a carpenter but we live to far away (He would have given quote)
