Ok my C. Plaeteus and all my other cories have been fine in the tank they're in. Eat a ton, then swim to the surface for air ocassionally get stuck in a plant but shimy up for air...Anyway, my C. Plaeteus was my first cory so I kinda freaked when I noticed what I thought was him stuck in teh weeds at the surface. i moved it so he could get back into the water or up for air if that's what he was tryin to do,he got his air and went back down all fine and good. he wasn't stuck for long since I had just put the food in for them. Anyway now he is floating like half on his side almost at teh top of the tank, constantly getting himself in the weeds at the surface. He doesn't have any ICH, marks, or any visible probs that i can see, water should be ok since I just did a water change last night...any ideas?? :-(

Hi neon_platys :)

It's hard to say, but there are a few possibilities I can think of. When corys get sick, it usually seems to be a bacterial problem which can be due to a number of different things.

Some of these things are overcrowding, uneaten food in the tank, low oxygen content in the water, insufficient or infrequent water changes, or aggressive tankmates.

I'm wondering if your small tank might not be overstocked. Another thing too, is that while corys sometimes go to the surface for air, they shouldn't have to do it very often. Do you have very good water circulation? Maybe the plants at the top are keeping the surface from moving enough to add sufficient oxygen to the water.

I hope your cory recovers soon.
