Okay well got a second hand tank yesterday, its a Juwel Rio 125, basically the light system seems very tempimental at the switch, originally when switching the switch only on every 20 clicks would the lights come on.

So I tried pushing the switch in harder as I pressed it and it came on more frequently(may just be coincidence) . ( I then gave up for the night ).

Today comes, I bought a new switch, and it does the same thing.

So I wired the light wires straight to a seperate new plug.

^ You would now think that the light comes on when you put the plug in? Wrong. You have to plug in and plug out a few times to get the lights to come on.

I am beginning to think it is the light unit and not the plug/switch?

Anybody had experience with these?

Thankyou,

Tim

It's a commom problem. Mine gave up just after the guarantee ran out.

If you are good at diy, there's a pinned topic on how to repair Juwel light bars at the top of this section. If not, you have to buy a new one. Arcadia I-bars are an alternative. But they are all pricey, I'm afraid.

Mine did the same on the rio 240 so I binned the unit and now am going to make a hood and fit light iv not got a clue how tho as a crap at DIY. Any tips?

sounds like the ballast has gone or is about to die in the light unit. if u look at the pinned topic in the forum u will see how easy they can be fixed its only bout 30min job if u got the right stuff to do it with
