Well i finally phoned the local Maidenhead Aquatics and they are willing to take my 20 Bronze juvi cories, these are around 5-6 months old now.Video of some of them Here

So i will give them a bloodworm tea tonight and bagged them up tomorrow to take along, the store is literally a 5 mins drive away. They agreed to 50p each,i think my babes are worth more, but i suppose they go by the profit margins!

So bye bye babes,i will miss you

The upside is i may be tempted to get some melini corys

Congrats... I would have paid much more. :D

Sorry you have to say goodbye, it seems so soon! bet you will come back with yet more cories though

Always sad :-( having to say goodbye to baby cory's, I currently have some peppered and strebia ready to go but the pet shops don't want them, and no one else seems to know what strebia cory's are and aren't willing to pay the $5 asking price for a private sale, while the pet shops are selling them for $21.50 each. 50p does seem awefully cheap for the bronzes. I'd cheer myself up and get the melini's  .

Thanks all :)

Wow thats a big profit they make Baccus  I hope you sell yours :good:

I know MA don't normally buy fish in has they have their main breeders, but they obviously know they can sell them,I think they sell their bronze for around £4.00

I would've liked to sell them on to peeps locally for more that have healthy tanks etc,but i know when i was selling livebearers i got a lot of time wasters, that done my head in,and i wont post...So needs must!

Knowing my luck, they'll be sold out of melini's....we'll see

I know only to well the tyre kickers that are going to come around and don't or finally do show up and don't bring anything with them to take the fish home and then just to really make your day only want 1 fish that isn't even for sale :shout: .
Good luck with getting some melinis

Thanks Baccus, they didnt have melini, but did managed to get some masked corys :good:

why didnt you find a smaller independant lfs. im sure they will have gave you more and cash too not store credit.

The one i normally take them too, gives me £1 each, but this is a 40 mile round trip,so fuel costs aside...the lfs i went to is a 5 min drive if that...

I suppose if i bartered they may have given me more

I think you did just fine Harlequins, after all, you aren't raising these fry for the purpose of selling them, are you?

Personally, I'd love to be able to raise some fry just to be able to say that I successfully did it, and then I'd probably keep as many as I could and give the rest away. If I was able to get store credit, fine. If not, whatever.

(Now, if you were going to be setting up a full scale breeding operation in an effort to actually off-set your operating costs, that's another thing. Also, it might be a nice tax shelter. Incorporate yourself, and you can take "business losses" for all of your fish hobby expenses! )

Thanks Eagle :good:

I'm not in it for a profit,I enjoy raising young fry and seeing them hopefully grow to adulthood :)

If it was down to me and i had the room,i would be like Inchworm and have Cory tanks everywhere  Each tank having single species in each

My little bronze fry are a one off project, but i would like to have a go at something like the Sterbai's. Its nice to have a bit of a challenge and im quite enjoying it. Although that said, i totally forgot to even look at them last night or even feed them! Too busy messing around with my new tank!
