Poor goats. My sister and I were Young Farmers for 7 years at our school. In 2001 the farm took some goats from another Young Farmers Club, and we named them Paula and Louise. They were the most beautiful goats you could ever have wished to meet. We halter trained them ourselves when they came because they were really strong and kept tanking off! They got used to hearing us coming down the school drive and they used to come galloping across their paddock to see us when they heard us coming, and stand there shouting at us. We always used to bring them veggies, thats why!

We looked after these lovely girls singlehandedly (Nobody else liked them, we had to cut their hooves and clean them out, feed them twice a day. They got fed crisps, crisp packets, chips, chocolate, ivy. All sorts of dangerous things.) In fact, Paula nearly died once because of it.

We left the Young Farmers when we left school, thinking the goats would be ok.

About a month and a half ago, my sister got a text saying Paula was ill, then another one later saying she had meningitis and had been put down. So we got upset, then carried on, thinking Louise was fine. On Friday evening we went to a birthday party, and one of our friends who still goes to the club was there and we asked how Louise was. She was like "Oh my god, you don't know." my sister said, yeah, we knew Paula was dead. And our friend said that 2 weeks after Paula died, Louise got tetanus and died. They didn't even tell us.

Rest in Peace, babies, at least you're together again.

This is Louise, unfortunately, I don't think there is a picture of Paula on the internet.

Awwwr I'm so sorry ::hugs:: poor goats. My favorite steer just passed away, so I know how you feel. RIP goats :(

Thanks for replying, RandomWiktor.

Yeah, my sister's steer was slaughtered, he was a gorgeous Charolais. I had to leave my heifer at the same farm, she will be going for meat. She's 14 months old at the moment. Poor baby.

Ah, the steer I liked was living at an animal sanctuary. Cute little Jersey steer. He was completely blind but very mild natured and affectionate. His adoptive mum died at age 24 and he passed with her within a week at 18 :( I think he was depressed from the loss or something of the like because he was robust and healthy prior to that, but stopped eating and drinking after she died.

Charolais are beautiful :*
