Buying Second Hand Equipment?

Hi all

has anyone ever brought second hand stuff to get thier tanks running, you know things like light fittings,filters, skimmers or anything else, is it a good idea that will save me money or will i end up with a load of old stuff that does not work as well and ends up costing me more in the long run?

tbh there are so many bargains to be had on ebay.

I have bought new and used fish equipment from there.

Just do your research before you start buying.

Know the prices of items before you get bid happy. Ask sellers questions before you bid and check their feedbacks too.

It right i brought lods off ebay and got some good deals, skimmers,uvs,wet/dry filter, top up units!!

Like said do research!!! buy you bid read the item look at the pics over and over too make sure!

i got a skimmer off ebay for £3.20. My tanks were off a mate too
All my pumps and things were new though but looking at branded tanks and stands on ebay shows how many brgains there is to be had

got my 3 foot tank off ebay woth filter heater light and air pump, books plants well everything for £50! also last night bought a fluval 2+ filter for £8.50. check the sellers rating and if unsure email them. there are good deals to be had.

I have only 3 items in my whole setup which were not either second hand or custom built. UV Sterilizer, Ozonizer, Hydor Koralia 3 powerhead. All three pieces of equipment were only purchased new because I couldn't find them used
