Looking to purchase my filter tomorrow for my 600l tank. I want a fluval fx5 as it has unrivalled mechanical filtration but i dont want 2 great big 300w heaters in the tank, therefore im also looking at the 2180 thermofilter. I guess both would be overkill. I researched the Hydor in line filters but id really rather not complicate things by putting in extra hose connections etc.

will the 2180 thermofilter do as good a job as the fluval fx5? Just that the fluval has a good deal more lph output and therefore creates more movement. I know this is a much asked question and iv done a lot of research on it - if it hadnt been for the thermofilter reliability issues id have bought it straight away.
