Hello all:

I'm a new member here :sly: I found your forums lastnight! So far, I really like it here! My question is about ordering fish Online. There are some fish on the internet I really want. (can't find at any of my lfs) Do the fish come in good shape etc? I can't see how a living creature can make a UPS shipment :dunno: Any info or good web sites to use will be helpful...thanks for your time.

Melfice,

You haven't entered a location in your profile so it is a bit harder to give advice....

If you are in the UK there are a couple of firms that do fish by mail order, by far the best (in my opinion) is Tri-Mar in Cornwall. They are very good and the quality of their fish is excellent. Delivery costs £10 for up to 20kg of fish (and water :) ). You will need to know what you are after as the site is low on pictures.

If you are in the States then you have various options, I have heard good things about LiveAquaria (which is part of Drs Foster & Smith). I cannot give you any personal opinions about it as I am in the UK....

Elsewhere in the world you will need to rely on local knowledge.

A fish will be ok with the shipping. They are packed properly and oxygen is put into the bag, they are then surounded by bags of water in a polystyrene box with heat packs and newspaper. This is how Trimar do it at least.

How do you think the fish get to the lfs? Swim?!

:hi: to the site, and I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info :) I live in California, USA. I will check your link out. Looks like ordering online will be a great option then.
