Highly doubt it. The one by me had crowntails once. Sort of. They were really just veils with some spiky rays. And they wanted a ridiculous $10 for them.
If they are crowntails for $10.00, it is reasonable price. They don't get it everytime. In my place, petmart don't have others except veiltail. You might find some combtail a few.

They aren't real crownies, though.
They're actually veils, with extended rays. Trust me.. I examined them for like.. half an hour. They're veils with crowntail traits.
Yeah, I knew they were combs, but they had a giant sign with 'CROWNTAIL!' written on it like it were a message from God.
S'okay, my LFS sells 'Halfmoon Bettas' and they're really just deltas.. and according to them their plakats are crowntails. ..Thank god for doing my own research lol
i've only seen specail betta's at 1 petstore near me, and thats just recently. right now they've got all kinds of CT's...and not just combtails...actual CROWNtails. it's sweet....i can't believe we left with just one...but at least he's pretty
my petsmart doesn't sell crowntails...i go there ALOT and i've never seem anything special....alot will have combs...but no crowns.
i got lucky today i went to the lfs and i went to look at the bettas and all of them were veil tail but a very good selection so i picked my favorite one and i brought it to the counter well it just so happened there were crown tails so i got a verrrryy good looking crown tail so hes got a special place on my computer desk i cant think of a name tho hes got a white body with red fins
try all the mom and pop shops. That's how I found my crowns and they had split tails and moons. Just whip the phone book out and call around. I did and I found lots. you just have to really look. Good luck!
I'm not sure what part of LA you live in, but this Aquabid Breeder lives in Slidell, LA. Looks to have a decent selection of fish and has a really good feedback rating, you could use the "contact Seller" option and ask if you could come look at the fish in person...they could even have some that aren't "breeding" worthy that you could buy for cheaper. never hurts to ask
