ok sounds really stupid to me though i dont understand it very well,
how dose it work? lol i mean bringing home 1 male in a sealed cup, or bag makes them pretty upset, most of the time it takes me a good day or so to calm them down, with a bit of stress meds lol, though in saying that i have never had one die from bringing them home,
but really sending them by mail? even marked fragile?

also dose anyone know of a Australian site for buying selling online?

hi buying bettas online isnt that bad but it is better to know the person first and to see pictures a site that may suit you is aquabid

saddly most of the people on aquabid are in the usa, pretty sure all ill get from that is a $30 belly up,

i think if i did order i would have to find a Australian only site

You can get beautiful fish from Thailand through the transhipper in Australia. I've never personally shipped or received fish. But I'm going to send one of my bettas a couple states over, on Monday. And in a week or two my Betta pair from Thailand should arrive In the mail

It depends a lot on your local import restrictions. Here in the US I would need to buy an importer license at huge costs per year, then I would need to pay for a health inspection for each shipment, whether it was 1 fish or 1000. That cost would almost make sense for the 1000 but would be completely impossible for a single fish. If I bought a fish from, let's say Malaysia, I would need to hire someone that does regular fish imports. That person would already have the importer license so I could combine my order with lots of other people and maybe make the cost per fish for the inspection not too bad. In that case I might only need to pay as much to the trans-shipper as I paid for a premium fish. Where does that leave me? I pay, let's say $50 for a truly superb fish and pay the trans-shipper the same amount. I now have a fish that has been in transit for a week or so to bring back from the edge of death. He is worth $100 to me already although he might fetch $30 in the local market. I find it better to find one of two cases. Either I can find a fish that I like locally or I can find one within my own country that is as nice as I want. In either case I will get that fish legally and for maybe half the actual cost of one from Thailand. (yea I know I switched countries) If you want to try your hand at smuggling, you can try to bypass the trans-shipper but don't forget the penalties involved in smuggling. The lawyer, solicitor, alone will cost much more than the fish and the time in prison cannot be measured in money.

lol i think i would do it all by the book, if i was going to order or sell, though i dont think it is too much here for a live export import license,

though hell, i think i would only like to have them sent inside aust considering it could and most likely would kill the fish in transit,
