Discovered Petco and Petsmart play around with their prices. Found a 300 W heater online at Petco for $28. Shipping $5, so I called local store re availability. Clerk said heater was $50. Went to store with the ad up on my iPad and got it for $28.

Petsmart emailed an offer: buy one API kit at $25 & get one half price. Didn’t like shipping cost. Called and store said not available unless ordered online. They wanted 39 a kit. So placed an online curbside pickup order & got the two kits for ~39. Never experienced other stores offering different prices.

We have a budget priced store over here, called ALDI.
There are several in a town.
Each takes it in turns to run their Bargains of the Week, so, if you can travel, you can get really, really cheap butter from one and really, really cheap cereal from the other. Visit the wrong store, at the wrong time and you miss the bargains. Those 'in the know' keep an eye on all of the stores and travel amongst them all.
Petco and Petsmart are businesses where profit and market manipulation to achieve said profit are the main goals.
Sadly, they just happen to deal with living creatures to achieve this.

Petco has regional prices and national prices. When you go in and get your stuff, look up each item online and show the clerk the price difference. They have to price match their own website in the store, as that is company policy.

There are Aldi stores here too. Don’t frequent. But visited today. They were selling “squatter stools” for ppl who like to 💩 squatting instead of sitting. 😱
Got really cool Day of the Dead planter with a succulent

Yep, they gave me the online prices, but the huge markups were surprising. Double on the API kits

Yeah, that is really where they get their money. Even with the markups, a lot of things there are cheaper than at the other place that sells fish here. I am on more of a budget than ever, so I also order ahead on the app for curbside deliver and get another 25% off (so long as the order is more than $50).

I get that too. it’s 20% off a $50 order here. I usually have to fight for it. Rarely works online. Call customer service where they often speak poor English and am told my items are ineligible, but they will apply it as a one time courtesy.
