Butterfly Pleco

Hi, been away for a couple of days and when i get back noticed one of my butterfly plecs looks a bit odd,then on closer inspection his eyes are nearly popping off his head and his stomach is so distended he cant lie flat plus his gills are showing from behind his gill plates.Apart from that he seems fine lol but seriously hes swimming around as if nothing has changed for him.Anyone with answers or ideas i would be greatful Regards Tony.

Constipatin or full of eggs are the two ideas that first srping to mind. You say "he" but are you sure its a male? I found a site that actually shows how to sex them and I'll post a link for you to look at if you want.

Wouldn't you believe it I can't find the link again it had photos showing the difference between the male and feamle fins.

Sorry should have made it clearer.Its an L052 one of three i have and the other two are fine to look at, .Thanks for your quick replies

Great fish when you see them, my female is very shy could this one possibly be female and be full of eggs?

with 3 you should be able to compare them quite well the male will be larger and have a wider head.

Mines eyes look rather bulgy due to there slim nature

Its definitely one of my females,just looking back at my first post dont know why i put it was a male.Anyway its grotesquely bloated and its eyes look like there going to pop off its head.Im pretty sure its not egg bound or anything like that as that wouldn,t explain its eyes(or would it ? i dont know)Will try to put a pic up tonight.It still seems happy enough in itself Regards Tony
