YES IT IS A FAST LITTLE FISH, I DONT REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM , BUT MINE IS IN COMMUNITY TANK , I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD KEEP THEM WITH GOLDFISH THOUGHT THEY WERE TROPICAL

I'd call them more subtropical than cold water, I don't think they would be truly happy in coldwater or tropical due to the specialist enviornment they come from (very fast flowing, oxygen rich streams).

well i didnt buy it,i just look after it,p@h sold the daughter it with the goldfish they told her it would keep the tank clean,i keep the tank clean not the fish.and yes its fast and first to the food,if it was tropical that wouldnt be a problem theres a 5 foot tank i would drop it in,but like i said its in fine condition, never seen it withdrawn or anything, fit as fire it is,,kenny

Pets @ home are shocking near me they label these loach as buttefly plec and call common plecs giant weather loach but these butterfly loach i dont know a lot all i know is they prefer a temp of 22-24 and need a fast flowing current in the tank as they originate from fast flowing streams apart from that they are hardy fish

i agree foley69 i posted on another thread about these, another person bought a one from p@h as a cold water plec, well they want shooting they are selling anything to anyone, when my daughter come in with it i wondered what was what as i hadnt seen it before till she had packed the house up and come home with it.anyway its in the tank with a good pump with good flow, its a warm back kitchen and its constant 24,thers a big tank in the sitting room if need be but its the fittest thing i have ever seen, and it can eat for england,,kenny

These are nice you need the right tank set up to keep them successfully iirc their also known as a Hong Kong plec

Thay like gravel, rocks and the odd short plant, to get a fast flow across the gravel use a power head, longer the tank the better tbh

when i ever go in i am constantly correcting them and they even sold an oscar to somebody who had a tetra 60l tank and said it would be fine well i am applying for a job their so if i get it i will probably become manager of the aquartics area soon based on the other peoples knowledge
