I just wanted to get an opinion on these fish.

I've tried to do some research on them, but there seems to be conflicting information. Are they hybrids with Goldfish (hence the long-fins) or not? And are they as hardy as other koi? Since I live in Canada it gets a tad cold during the winters.... (we bring them into the garage, but I don't want a fish who can't take the weather) And has anybody had any problems with them having their fins nipped by other koi in the pond?

We won't be purchasing them until the spring, just want to gather information to be sure that they'll fit in with the others :)
Thanks for any help you have to offer!!

No their not a cross, it's just a long fin gene which was developed about 10-15 years ago.

Their not as hardy as normal koi.
So you have to move them in before all the other's

Yup not crosses (although you can get goldfish/koi crosses). I recently seen a pond full of butterfly koi and they looked very nice.

no theyre pure koi. most koi enthusiast will call butterfly koi inferior though, theyre nicknamed the "american kio". i personally think they can look very good, i have a very small 1 myself.
