I have seen butterfly fish in reef tanks, only in pictures however. I know that they are avid invertebrate eaters, so this just does not fit. The black and white heniochus does not appear to be as bad, so these seem to be slightly safer. Unless im told otherwise though, it is just too big of a risk for me to take. Its too bad these beautiful animals are such bad reef candidates :(

Copperbands are considered reef safe. However their survival rate in captivity is appawling so i wouldnt even attempt it.

Most others are high risk to be honest. I am considering a butterfly in my system but its a huge risk and at the moment i feel more research is needed before i take this risk

I have a heniochus(Bannerfish/Wimple Fish/Poor Man's Moorish Idol) in my Reef and have had no problems with it

Very good looking fish & easy to look after (oh & mine loves NORI)
