Hi people just a quick note really, im well into my fish as a hobby and love tending to there every need, i live near an exclusive area of the south coast in Poole Dorset UK. The likes of Harry redknapp, bruce forsyth, max bygraves all have properties here, the area is awash with millionaires. Im thinking of starting a business supplying, installing, and managing custom acrylic/glass fish tanks. The business would range all across the south coast maybe further afield. I have a few friends that work for glass companys and acrylic companys so the supplys are there and the needs for creating tanks, im just after a poll really from you guys and any ideas/thoughts you might have. i notice in the states there are a few companys that offer custom tanks, not many in the uk though and not many that will manage a tank for familys with a hectic lifestyle but love fish. please add your thoughts and suggestions to this all comments are appreciated. Kr Dan

there's a lot of companies like this around, one of the members of this forum works for one (although i can't remember who)

i'd love to do that as a job though, if it works and you wanna branch out to yorkshire give me a shout!

Im over here in the states, but I have known people that have done quite well for themselves on just the maintinence end. I would be careful about insurance and such as one good spill or such could equal a nasty lawsuit.

If there was someone in my area I could trust, I would seriously consider the service to keep my tank spotless...

Yeah, tank setup and maintenance for businesses and those with some disposable income is VERY common here in the states. I personally know 5 people in Buffalo that do setup/maintenance as an almoast sole source of income. I agree though that you'll need to know the liabilities here before you get into things.

Thanks for all the comments guys keep them coming, it might be worth just starting a maintenance service to use up my spare time and earn some extra pennys doing something i enjoy, ive got all the gear obviously from my own stuff and just purchased a ro unit for pure H20 keep the suggestions coming cheers peeps. you definately need public liability insurance, covers you if you get hurt working on someone else's property and i'm not 100% sure but it might cover them if they got hurt because of something yuo were doing, althugh double check teh facts. I know Ian has to have it, he's a builder

also remember though in the uk were lightly more relaxed on sueiing people than in america i.e woman got served hot coffee and spilt it on herself so she sued the cafee for serving hot cofee.... hmmmm bizarre

Yeah, I'm sure you guys wouldn't need the armies of lawyers and insurance companies that we require (and people wonder whats wrong with our society), but it never hurts to know what you do need in coverage. Would hate to see someone loose everything cause they didnt have a $50 permit
