I know not to cover the rhizome of any plant, but are there restrictions to how deep you can bury parts of other plants?
I'm planting a completely drained tank, and I'll be filling it with water as soon as I'm done. I want to bury the plants deep enough so they don't float but I don't want to bury them so much that they die.

Does anyone have any advice?

not really, just the deeper you plant it the more material there is to break down and rot under the substrate. but i’ve never had any issue planting crypts, anacharis, val’s, etc as deep as possible.

what plants are you looking to plant?

In the substrate, mostly crypts and vallis. I've been removing the rockwool and separating the plants, and I'll be planting soon which is exciting 🥳
Cryptocoryne Crispatula and straight vallisnaria are the two main plants.

the crypts and val’s will be good for planting deep, just make sure they have plenty of lighting and make sure the flow isn’t too strong.

Planting too deep will result in the stems rotting in the sand/substrate. As recommended above; plant them to base of the plant where the rockwool was. Being crypts don't be surprised if they melt, they do come back but have to pout about being moved first, lol.
Also its a good idea to remove any dead/dying leaves or roots prior to planting. You can even trim the existing roots a little to encourage ney growth-just a little though.
Good luck!
