For the past 6 months I have kept 3 Fantails and a Blackmoor goldfish together in a tank. They have been getting along great until this morning when I found that the Moor was being chased around the tank relentlessly by 2 of the Fantails. I have searched the web and found that it could be either that the tank has got too small for them causing an agressive streak to come out or that they were trying to get the Moor to produce eggs. I have had to put the Moor into another tank.

Has anyone else seen this type of behaviour?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
Yes goldfish agression is not unheard of, often comes about from mixing the wrong sorts of goldfish together or keeping them in unsuitable tank set ups. How many gallons/litres is the main goldfish tank and the tank the blackmoore goldfish is currently in? Are they filtered at all?

Hi Tokis-Phoenix thanks for replying.

The tank is approx. 10 gallons with an under gravel filtering system. The Blackmoore is now in a smaller tank about 2 gallons (this has no filtration at the moment, as hopefully it is a temporary housing). It was put in there to give it some rest from the constant aggravation from the 2 Fantails. These fish have all lived happily together for the past 6 months, so what could have triggered this aggressive behaviour, which only begun today.

The agression is most likely brought on by the lack of space then, it was bound to happen sooner or later unfortunately- goldfish are large growing fish and need space like any other fish, most fancy types of goldfish like blackmoores and fantails will grow to 6-8inches long and produce a lot of waste. How large are the goldfish at the moment?
If the 2gal has no filtration you will need to do once daily 100% water changes as the ammonia from the goldfishs waste will build up otherwise very quickly and turn the water quality foul and will harm the goldfish (ammonia is toxic to all aquatic life) and could even kill it if the ammonia levels are left to rise too much.
If the goldfish are small right now (like 1-3inchs long each), i would advise gettinga 30gallon long tank imediately, if they are larger than 3inches long i would advise getting a 40gallon long tank- either way, for 4 fancy goldfish, you will need a 40gallon long tank with good filtration to keep them permanently in the long term, they will be very happy in such a good sized tank and will get a long much better as well together  .
