Bulbs From Wal-mart

I got some aponogeton and dwarf lily bulbs from Wal-Mart yesterday, brand name Aquatic Haven. How should I plant these? Let them just sit on the bottom until they root? Put them in the substrate? How do I know which end to plant up? Also, if some float, should I ditch the floaters? Thanks!

We let ours float/sink until leaves started to sprout, then buried the bulb in the substrate...
