I am getting ready to order my new T5 set-up , and i get my choice of bulbs. The problem is i have a mirrored blue backround on my tank and when i put bulbs in they are usually to blue and the tank looks dark. So i want my lights to be more white than blue. I will have 4 T5 bulbs over my 55 gal. here are my choices, all Giesemann brand-

6000k midday german made full spectrum

Actinic Plus 40% Actinic 60% blue peaks at 450 nm

Aquablue Plus 11,000k 60% Actinic 40% white

Pure Actinic peaks at about 420 nm

I am having a hard time using the spectrum charts so any help would be great. Basically i just want to be able to see everything clearly.

Also if anyone knows where i can order some super quiet cooling fans (tank in living room) for my canopy that would be a big help also.
Thanks for any input.

The more actinic or 420/450nm light the bluer it will be. I'd go with the 11000k if it were my tank. 6000k is too yellow for my tasts. 10-11000 is usually pretty white :)

What size fans are you looking for?

so you think i should go with 4 of the 11k?
fan size isn't too important, they are gonna be under the canopy so maybe 3"-5"

If you're getting 4 tubes, you might want to mix it up. Are you going mail order or pickup? The BEST way to do it would prolly be to start with 2 11000k bulbs and decide if thats too blue, just right or too yellow for you. Then if its too blue, get some 6000k bulbs, and if its too yellow get some actinic plus bulbs, and if its just right, get two more 11000k's :). If its mail order, maybe ask if they have an exchange policy or something like that in case you dont like the look of whatever you choose first.

Great. thank you for covering all possibilities :good: it's mail order, but its 2 different fixtures so maybe i'll order one set first and go from there.
