I was checkin out the Bulb Anemones on LiveAquaria and notice it said lighting moderate to high. Bulb Anemone: LiveAquariai understand the high range, but what is considered moderate lighting? just b/c ive always wanted an anemone but know my lighting is high but no halides. let me know thx

IMO i have a bubble anemone and i have the basic coral lighting no halide bulbs and its doing amazing eventhough its behind one of my LR and cant fully see it. Im not too sure about bulb anemone though but thats my experience. does anyone have a trick to keep them in front of the LR or is it just hit or miss. sorry im not trying to steal your thread, i think it cant be beneficial to anyone reading this post.

no thats fine, just ive always been a fan of anemones, especially since i have 2 clowns, but always been pulled away from them due to my lighting. but know its stronger than what i had, so who knows.

Its tough to say really. Bulb tip nems are on the lower end of anemone lighting requirement, but still not too low ;). Problem with your tank is that it's very deep, and PC's dont really penetrate that depth very well. Personally, I'd avoid it, but I can't say for sure it won't work. Wish I could give you a better answer

yeah i bought one for the same reason, i had two clowns, but honestly the clowns dont want anything to do with it, but my domino damsel found it to be a great home and actually interacts with it just as a clown would. ive read and found out myself that bubble anemone like darker spots in the tank and they like to be in a tight spot. mine has gotten huge and i never feed it well i cant its at the back of my LR tonight im going to move it to the front and hope it stays.

if you get one put it as high up as you can, and dont move it unless its not getting light or something

doesnt work anemone can move on there own, try and put them in the spot you want and hope they stay, mine actually moved to the other side of the tank in one night, it will go where it wants to

i dont know if its true or not but i have read that they like darker spots in the tank, i have notice that mine doesnt like the light but that could just that one anemone. if anyone can help me out please post

And these posts just go to prove that clowns don't "need" an anemone ;)

no they dont, one thing i was quit amazed with was my domino damsel is spawning with the anemone, he interacts just like a clown is suppose to, he defends it and sleeps in it

thats b/c u have to remember dominos are damsels, just like clowns, thus have similar characteristics. at the aqaurium i work at, the dominos love the anemones as well.

My BTA did the 'climbing down the back' trick too - left him there for a few weeks cos he (he? - like I know!) seemed happy enough.

In the end, I had to move 'him' because he was getting close to the intake for my skimmer - moved him round the front of the tank about half way up on the LR and he moved down a bit and seems to have take root there now. I have halides and my BTA seems to prefer to be lower down in the tank, confirming Ski's point about not being too dependant on light, but what light there is of a good intensity, if that makes sense?

What if I get a Anemone, and I does not have to right light. What will happen?

Thanks,
Josh
