Out of pure curiusity I'm wondering if anyone knows a good way to build a tank perhaps a 55 gallon tank out of glass. I'm just wondering how much it would cost and where I could get the glass sheets to build it with.. I've heard you need the glass, silicone sealant, duck tape and some other things.. Any Ideas or sites that show you step by step how to do it? Also probally braces underneath it so the glass won't crack. Thanks... Also definitely a rectangle tank.

well first off... ur gonna need 5 sheets of glass... usually from a windshield or glas shop u can get that, make sure they're the rite measure ments exaclty, then u need some sort of wooden jig to jsut lay the glass into... then u will need to seal it up nicely :D

I would ask where I could buy glass but I guess the majority here are in the UK. I guess I'll check out a couple Home Improvement stores near me and see what they got and how much it costs.

You wont save any money building it yourself, tanks are cheaper to buy than build. I priced some glass at a local glass shop and just one piece cost 120 dollars then they wanted about 60 more to finish the edges. I also priced plexiglass and it was to high. ( i was going ot build a 120 gallon tank)
If you still want to build one, you can buy plans on ebay for a few dollars.
