Building A Pond

Has anyone built a pond before or can provide me with a quick run through. I have an albino channel cat and i want to build him a pond. I plan on digging a hole and using pool liner and some rocks and such. I am clueless when it comes to building some sort of water full or anything portaining to pumps and filters can anyone help me out with some info?

There is a pond section just below the marine section, you'd probably get better results there.
