so now i have the tank i'm hoping to turn into my sump i have a question about its design, how do i decide about the order of the different chambers, i was planning on having my skimmer in the first chamber followed by bubbletrap baffles, which may also hold some physical filter material then running into the refugium area and finally into the return & heater chamber, does this sound ok, because on a lot of sumps that i have seen the skimmer is in the return and i was thinking that the skimmer could prevent any pods etc coming from the refugium getting back up into the main tank any ideas welcomed as always also if you see any flaw in my intended design pls point them out to me.......... Kevin

p.s i will try and get a drawing up to show how i hope its gonna be

When I was looking at sectioning my sump I was told it is better to have to skim in the first section. Originally I was going to have skimmer in first chamber, then 3 baffles for a bubble trap then a middle section for chaeto and possibly LR rubble then 2 baffles to the last chamber for the return.

Now I am running with no baffles at all! haha

this is what i was thinking.........

Is that 2 seperate sumps joined together so to speak or was you tired when you used windows paint! LOL

Design looks good to me. Are you gonna be running cheato in your 'fuge' or a media bag full of phos remover.......................Or neither! LOL

it is 2 separate units, i managed to get hold of a tank but it's smaller than i had hoped so decided to use a plastic tub for volume and plumb it into the tank. I am intending on going with LR and chaeto in the fuge, with its own light on an opposing light cycle to the main tank, i believe thats how its done???
