Hey,
yet looking for more pets as i love them so much! really wanting to get a pair of budgies and after seeing a really good value cage with all accessories, i just had to buy it. I'm looking for any advice on whether they are an i deal pet and if it's worth buying a couple. Do you get bored of them and how do I choose a healthy one? I also heard (though I thought this was only a skill of larger types of parrot) that you can teach them to talk. Is this true?

Yes ideal pets and you can train them to talk!! They are wonderful pets but like all pets have their own needs that must be catered for so do your research and pop over to a budgerigar forum. They need to have room to fly so if the cage is small you must be able to let them out and be sure no one will leave a door or window open. They're not disimilar to fish in needing space to move freely. A small restrictive cage is not kind unless they can get lots of free space too.

I used to have two budgies and they used to fight so had to be separated! But they were gorgeous characters and very cute!

make sure you dont get 2 males for 1 cage

Yeah they are good pets, I have two, but as mentioned you must let them fly, it is so crueel to keep them in a cage. Mine sit on top of my mirror over my fireplace singing away happily. I just leave their cage doors open and they go to bed when the sun sets every night.
I have a male and a female but they still fought in one cage overnight so I seperated them, but are fine together when flying freely.
Just dont expect to ever get to watch tv again in peace-they squeal!

So I'm thinking of getting one male budgie and commiting my life to spending lots of time with it! Any ideas on points to persuade my mum? Thanks
