Do all of your male bettas, or most of them bubblenest? I only see one of mine do it...

Most of mine do, but about 5 don't... it just depends on the male.

Well, there's another thing. They don't "flare" as much as they used to. Could it be related to my lack of proper diet??

Mmm... might be related. -_- They tend to bubblenest when they're completely content. But, there are other factors I've found affect if they nest or not though. Most of mine don't, in fact. I wouldn't say it's because they're not happy though. The water is just chillier in my room than I would like it to be, so the nests don't hold up very well. :dunno:

Some Male Bettas build super-duperly huge bubblenests and some don't. Some flare like crazy and some don't.

To help stimulate flaring and bubblenest construction, it's always good to have Female Bettas in one's collection even if one does not intend to breed bettas.

If the Betta Boys are healthy and in condition (i.e. if they still have their mojo) and with the Betta Babes giving them the encouragement..... :hyper: the Betta Boys would definitely be more willing to flare and show off their bubblenest construction capabilities..... :hey:

The males should be kept where they don't normally see other males or females for them to react to seeing them and start flaring. Usually a male will blow a bubble nest after a water change, if they are happy. If you keep the males carded, allowing them to see other males or females once in awhile will get them to flare. Old age affects them too. Cooler water temps will cause them to be lethargic, and not want to flare.

This is true. Uncarded bettas do become bored with each other.

Absence also makes the heart grow fonder. So, Betta Boys shouldn't see the Betta Girls too much.

my males don't but one of my females hss made a nest.

Mine did when I first got him but now he doesn't. I guess it's because of the cooler water cause I give him loads of TLC. Maybe also because he sees other bettas around him.. maybe he's feelin bad he's not the only one anymore :dunno: Makes me think he's not happy cause he did and now doesn't
