Oh I'm not breeding. Hes just building it. :D I'm not prepared to breed bettas yet. I dont think I could handle my rams and the bettas!! I wasn't planning on doing rams... but they started by themselves ...

It is very cool to watch them build a nest. My new male I got last Saturday started building a nest in his tank the 2nd night I had him, and it was pretty impressive looking. I've since tried spawning him with a sister I got at the same time and his bubblenest making skills didn't do nearly as well then, he was way to interested in the girl, Lol. But lo and behold, I now have lots of eggs as they spawned yesterday :D The female was actually the one who collected most of the eggs after each release, and a ton were left on the floor of the tank :( But there are lots up in the nest (what nest there is was mainly built during the spawning and picking up of eggs). Congrats on the Ram babies :)

Oh, and yes, that means they're happy if they're building nests, it's their way of playing I like to think :)

Congrats on the bettas!! I've actually lost all my ram eggs. :( But I have since fixed things so that hopefully I wont loose any again :D

I'm sure your male betta will get better at it. :D Was it his first time?

Yep, it was his first spawn and he's only 4 months old, so I do have hopes he will improve. I'm noticing now that there are eggs with fungus on them in the nest, so that's not good news. If I don't get any or only a few fry out of this I will definetly try again, possibly with the other female I have (as the current one will need to heal up and rest for a couple of weeks). Mabey he'll have a better idea that time.

Sorry about your Ram eggs, hopefully you've fixed the problem and will have some baby Rams to care for :)

Hmmm... I wonder why there is fungus. I hope that you get a few out of the clutch! Good luck and thanks :D

The fungus will grow on eggs that didn't get fertilized. Usually the male should eat them, to keep the nest free from bad things, but as I've seen he's not being the greatest daddy. Although when I look now I don't see some of the ones with fungus now, so mabey he is taking care of them. I have seen him up by the eggs when I walk in the room, but then he swims away when he sees me. So I'm just trying to stay away so I don't frighten him and make him eat the healthy eggs too.

My current tank 10 gallons. (2ft long, 1 ft high, 1ft deep)

2 Blue dwarf Gouramis (Male and Female)
1 Kissing Gourami
2 Harlequins
1 Red Tailed Shark
1 Red Fin Shark
3 Female Guppys (should be pregnant!)
4 Male Guppys
2 Female Fighters/Bettas
2 Tiny Tiny Banded Loches(Sqiggles 1 and 2)
You have 2 females Betta's that why they wont build or  tho some females do blow nests, get yourself a male and every 5 hours you will have bubbles
