My male betta has stopped making bubble nests over the last week - I'm due a water change, would this be a sign that he's not overly happy?

I haven't been overfeeding and the chemical levels are pretty good (slightly high nitrate - using RO water which was used by the LFS)

Some people believe rain stimulates bettas to breed... has it been raining in your area, then stopped? That might explain it. Or maybe he just isn't in a bubblenesting mood. I mean, there must be TONS of bubbles in a nest and bettas blow each of these individually... maybe he's just having a break. )

What size tank is he in and is it cycled and how much water do you take out in your waters changes on average?
