I have noticed some green bubble algae tht has started to appear on one off my rocks is this good or bad, please help

If left untreated it will become a pest algae. Best way to remove it is to prepare two buckets of saltwater big enough to dip the rocks in. Take the rock out, scrape the bubbles off but try not to break them. Invariably you will break some though. Either way once the algae is removed and thrown in the trash, dip the rock in bucket 1, and then bucket 2, and put back in your tank. You may require multiple treatments longterm but this is really the only way to do it. Best to do it now before the problem escalates.

Do not, I repeat, Do not, pop any bubbles in your tank. This releases spores that will just enflame the problem

Ski nailed that one! so I'm guessing smashing them with my thumb was a bad idea...lol jk!

I think I'm right in saying that Mithrax crab will also eat bubble algae.

Sometimes yes, although some individuals ignore them, especially in a captive reef where food rains from the sky daily ;)

Mithrax crabs can also be a pain with bubble algae, when they try to eat them they burst the bubble, releasing spores, and usually they will only eat the occasional patch of bubble algae. This usually makes the problem worse, i try and get to all the bubble algae in my tank before my Mithrax does.
