I keep redfinned tetra Tetragonopterus argenteus and would assume T.affinis
have the same requirements as their closely related cousins.
mine are kept in a 54x18x30 tank that has quite a high flow
(tanks volume turns over 8 times an hour).
they are plant eaters, but not as bad as silver dollars
but have sharp teeth and any small fish would be quickly chased and consumed.
the temp is 26c which seems ideal for them.
I have noticed if I'm slow on my water changes they do get cloudy eye quickly
but recover quickly too after the water change, this leads me to think that high NO3
is not conducive to their health.
they are very fast and love to dash around the tank, this should be taken into account
for housing, so I'd say a tank of at least 48 inch long is a minimum.
they will take flake but have a love for prawn, muscle and bloodworm.
I know this is for a different species, but hope it helps some.
