Came back from holiday to find that the Java moss in the shrimp tank has mostly gone brown. The other plants in the tank had grown madly and flopped over sideways while we were away, and there was not much light getting to the moss, so I'm wondering if that may have been the problem; also the weather was quite a bit warmer suddenly - could that affect it?
I've pruned the other plants so there's now light getting through. There are green side shoots and tips to the strands of moss, but a lot of it is brown and dead looking. I tried removing some of the brown bits, but of course it's all tangled up, and I just ended up loosening it from the coconut shell it grows on and making a worse mess.
Should I just leave it and hope it will recover, or clear it out and start again with a new piece? Any advice would be welcome.
