Hey i bought this fish and hes very cool. Hes almost like a BGK bt not quite as cool, but stays small!! I was jst wondering are they also very reclusive, i know they r nocturnal but wil they eventually come out?

at night yes. You should put some moonlights on yur tankj so you can see him swimming. They are blind so if you turn the lights off and it isnt too bright he should come out.

O right, i jst read on another forum that their bgk, after a few months was out and about the tank in the day.
It would be good if it did, as no1 can see it and its a nice looking fish. Also whats best to feed it, ive got blood worms, lance fish, prawns and cockles anthing else??

First off try looking up this fish: xenomystus nigri and papyrocranus afer. They are very similar and often sold as one or the other, but beware! the afer can grow big!
even so african knife fish (nigri) are small but only for a knife fish they can eaqsily obtain ten inch

I dont think its either of those, i jst searched the names in google. Its a lil like a black gk but brown lol. It has a white strip down it 2. Ive researched it and all dat and they aparently dont exceed 10-12. But im not 2 sure

Yes, I think that you're referring to Rhamphichthys pantherinus, which usually only gets to 9". Assuming that the bloodworms are frozen, I'd try them first, most knives will eagerly accept them.

O and do they jst dislike the light or is it harmful. lol its a stupid question but when the lights on he scoots about every where to get away.
I was just thinking as there arnt any good caves, i could get one of the plastic tubes that ive seen bgk in

Most knifefish adapt to light ,if they feel comfortable. To make them feel safe use a lot of plants, including a few floating...use rock/driftwood to create natural caves...and feed during the day only...
In no time at all your knife should be out and swimming freely no matter the time of day :)

Feed during the day? Will he come out for it and my bichir will probably eat everything first lol. Cheers though.

I'd try some frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms..feed early morning tank light off, room light on...once he's out and feeding turn on the tank light..if he hides, turn it off again...gradually increase the length of time you have the light on during feedings and start feeding a few small meal throughout the day...
it works...
Currently I have 3 bgk that all eat no matter what time of day and with full tank lights on...I have also used this method with success on asian/african/gold lined and chocolate knifefish.
Just make sure you have a few floathing plants, dense planting in the back of the tank, and lots of natural hiding places...it's all about feeling safe :)
