We have two Oscars, a Jack Dempsey, and two Jewels...can we get a big algae eater to eat the brown stuff??

You can so long as he gets somewhere to retreat to if getting a hard time...

What size are your fish now and what size tank? This mix could be trouble as they get bigger/older..... -_-

:)

Thanks for responding! :D

Our oscars/jack/jewels are about 3 inches long in a 30 gallon tank. We have five fish in there altogether. We should maybe get a real big algea eater? And do they like the brown stuff rather than green?? :dunno:

BTW, it was so hot yesterday, and our house got real warm, and the temp on the tank grew to 86 degrees!!!!

Yikes! I left the light off today, hope that helps!

IMO you should stick to wiping the algae off of ornaments gravel glass etc yourself. Your tank is way too overstocked, and hopefully you have plans on moving those fish to a bigger tank very very soon.
