Well I decided that my tank may not necessarily be cycled, but it's definitely got some bacteria because I am not getting any ammonia or nitrite readings, even though I've been adding fish food to raise those levels - for over a week! Oh well, I figure having a few small fish in there will be pretty safe.

I went to a lfs today and picked up two cherry barbs. :D I got a male and a female, or at least I think I did - one is brown and lighter, and the other is a pretty bright red. I made sure to get one of each thanks to Alien Anna. :p Thanks! Anyways, I'm happy with them so far, they're really cute and I think it'll be a lot of fun. I'll let you all know how it goes and what else I decide to add eventually.

Sounds pretty safe. Congratulations on your new fish. Keep an eye on their behaviour and remember to keep them on minimal rations for the first couple of weeks. Do a water test after 24 hours just in case there's a nitrite spike.

Cherry barbs like shelled frozen peas, btw.

Cool ;)

Getting new fish and deciding which ones to by is always one of the best parts of fish keeping! :D

Good Luck

Second I think to steppin back and admiring your handiwork with nicely decorated tank with crystal clear water and some of your favourite fish :) (Cmon you know you all have favourites, dont deny it!)

Matt :)
