hi guys,

brought some flying fox's and a red tail shark yesterday, the red tail shark has settled in fine even though its tiny compared to the other fish's. as for the flying fox's, they're just swimming around and not even eating the algae, they're swimming round in the group of 5 i brought them, is this because they're still getting use to the surroundings or something? its a 5 ft tank and the flyings fox's are tiny

thanks

hi

They might just be settling into the new environment. Are any of the other fish picking on them? I wouldnt worry about it for a couple more days yet. I know that some fish will take 2 weeks before they will start eating properly. Also is the water quilities right? if the water is wrong, for example there is ammonia in the water they will become stressed and then might not eat.

when they first went in the angel did try but i think slowly they're not bothered anymore, im going to do the test later on and see what readings i get

I had the same problem; but mine would just swim up and down the glass.... Constantly.

After around 3 days he had cleaned off most algae on plants. ;)

My best guess is if the water is right then they are just settling into their new home

I wouldn't keep flying foxes and any sharks together as they're similarly shaped so tend to fight.

flying foxes , the smaller they are the better they are with algae. when they get big they become lazy buggers who rely on flake or whatever you feed them.

as for the algae. flourish excell helps =). and no need for fish like flying foxes. i found they they cause alot of stress to the other fish. especialy when they get larger. because they are insanely hyperactive.

Aye,they are just probably settling in,may take a bit for them to start eating.I agree with crazychris,as the rtbs gets bigger he will almost surely try to kill the flying foxes or die trying. They have a real problem with fish of similar shape and/or color, and even sometimes any fish at all despite shape or color. Then again rtbs seam to be a "by the fish" type and may be fine with them.I'd keep a close eye on them and have a plan for moving one or the group for when the fighting starts.
