Blue Texas Cichild; Cichlasoma carpinte. Should be right up your street, big aggressive and destructive, wont be long before its doing battles with your other fish and killing and maiming.

ALRIGHT!! didnt have a clue lol, wonder how it will go with my red devil and the africans, it will be divided from the other fish but it will also have the texas and a female red terror with it witch im keeping a close eye on, i will soon move the red terror into a 75g (just got to wait for it to grow a little more)
How fast do they grow? i feel like a newbi man.

That's not a carpinte. I did some work on the pic to get a better look because the mouth and spots didn't look carpinte-like to my eye.

What you have there is a cichlid from Madagascar, Paratilapia polleni "large spot. It was formerly P. bleekeri although I believe that was changed recently. There is another, similar fish called P. polleni "small spot". The large spot version gets a little larger, maybe 10-12", and supposedly is quite aggressive.

A little article that may help... http://www.cichlidae.com/articles/a117.php

I'm not sure why the name changed, probably some taxonomist somewhere needing to justify his existence. Much easier to say polleni or bleekeri. Heck, just say small spot or large spot, that's what I do.

I wonder if anyone looked at the article I linked? :dunno:

Wow looks you made quite a find there Vip, any chance of a few more pictures? I've seen P.polleni small spot here for fairly high prices so i hate to think what they cost over in Oz, what did you pay for them?

Hey Vip, can we see a whole tank shot?
You have some huge fish I would love to see the whole picture of them together :D
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! :hyper:
