I was inspired by @EllRog 's post earlier about the sister fry.

Our fry are pretty much hatched on the same day.

We both had fairly small spawns but it was still very facinating to follow each other and see how things developed.

I had around 11 fry and for unknown reasons I was suddenly down to just 5.
I had 4 females (or so I thought...) and 1 male.
Long story short...I have 3 males and no females.
The 2 females I had sadly dident make it.

I am extremely proud of the 3 males I got left.
Their dad is a blue and red Veiltail and their mum is a white dumbo.

They are feisty little buggers.

I always name my fish, at least the ones I intend to keep.

So here is From left to right in their homemade trio tank.
Blackadder, Baldric and Flashheart.

Blackadder and Baldric have rifts in their fins because of my own stupidity.
When I left to go to Norway to se my parents, they were still quite small and they both had egg spots and showed the typical tiger stripes on their head.
I was told that only females get that.

My partner took care of my fish while I was gone and told me on several occasions that he suspected one of them being a male.

I sorted it out when I got back home.
They were indeed both males...god sake ??.

So they have had their fights and lived to tell the tale.
They have both healed up really well, still got a way to go though.

Very nice setup, what type of bettas are they. I am learning more about bettas, because I just got a betta that I was not planning on having but decided to give him a try. Here is a link to my thread, if you go to the third page there is a really good picture of Max.

Thank you.

Used to have just 2 in there but had to do some changes after the surprise male haha.

They are a mix of veiltail and dumbo with what I think might have been plakat type fins.

Still got their dad.
His fins are getting quite heavy now and he is struggling to get to the surface.
I have lowered the water level and put more plants in that he can rest on.
He has perked up a bit.

I have only had Max for a little less than two weeks. I must confess, that I never wanted a betta because of their aggressiveness. I wanted to stick with community aquariums with several species. That is until I got two vale tail Angel Fish I named Nina and Pinta.
Nina.jpg Pinta.jpg

They are both aggressive to the Red Eyed Tetras I have in with them, in a 55-gallon tank. So I set up another tank a 29 gallon to re-home the tetras. Then I got Max and he is living in the 29-gallon tank. So I am now in the process of setting up a third tank, a 20 gallon long for Max. Wow, MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrom) it is contagious. Now I must confess again the I have been ignoring my Angels giving most of my attention to Max....lol. That is watching the tank for periods of time and enjoying the pleasure derived from doing so. My Angels are jealous.
