I have 2 Bronze Cory's that came with the tank my friend gave me.
When i recieved the tank, there was 1 surviving serpae (that i have since removed as of today), there were 2 blue gouromis, 1 chinese algae eater, and the 2 Bronze Cory's.
Now. My friend who gave me this tank, (25 or 30 gallon? its BIG) said that she had tried to put in some type of swordtail / sword finned shark (?) in the tank and it ate many of her fish, and scared many other fish to death. - she removed this fish, and then i got the tank.
I had NO IDEA that cory's swim with life. I was at my LFS and saw a setup of two 12 year old cory's swimming around and just enjoying life. I was astonished! I did not know they could swim. honest. My cory's sit under rocks until i turn the tank light off. They are very frightened fish. VERY. they must be hiding at all times.

since i have joined this forum, i have removed the evil serpae tetra, the gouromis and the CAE.

As of today, this is my tank:

2 cory's
2 baby plecos
3 head and tail light
3 golden danios
4 zebra danios
1 beautiful betta

Will my poor, beautiful cory's ever be happy again, or will the past horrors for them keep them hiding forever?

The more corys you have the happier they are, they like large groups and more of them will probably tempt your corys out. Some types of corys seem to be more active than others though, my panda corys are always on the move while my peppered are very lazy though they do get spurts of enthusiasm for life, a lot of the time they just relax. Do they go grubbing around for food? If not maybe cut down their food for a while, make them look around and do what's natural.
:D

I have two peppered cory and sometimes they swim around and look for food on the bottom other times they are so still I think they died. Do the panda cory and the peppered cory shoal together??

The 3 serpae tetra's were returned to my LFS, (2 were purchased there) the 2 blue gouromis are chilling with my neighbour, and the CAE is with the LFS's livestock manager who has a nice 170 gallon tank he can swim around in.

the cory's come out at night to look for food. they sit under shells and rocks all day, when i feed my fish, if anything falls right on their nose, they will gobble it up.. and then dig deeper into the darkness until i turn the light off. - i added some more plants, which were totally needed, and now they chillout in the plants, but still, they don't swim around like all the other ones i have seen. I will add i think 2 of the dancing guy's i saw partying up in that display tank.. quite fiesty for being 12 years old!!
thankyou all for being so kind. - i will keep you updated.

No they dont ( im alex's other half by the way ) they stay out of each others way most of the time.
Corys only really shoal with other corys of their own species, sometimes you will get two shoals of different species of cory which will mingle but if you only have the space for one species it is best to get them all the same.
